Andrew Sowers Earns Top Recognition in IC Business Idea Competition

2014 Dec 19

Andrew Sowers, a senior computer science major in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Ithaca College, won the Innovation track of the fourth annual Business Idea Competition sponsored by the Ithaca College School of Business.

Sowers earned top recognition for UV Clipboard, a universal cloud-based clipboard synchronization service. The software will allow computer, tablet and smartphone users who have multiple devices to quickly and easily copy and paste text and images between devices. Designed with team member Stephen Briggs, the idea earned its inventors $1,000 in prize money.

Created to stimulate student entrepreneurship, Business Idea Competition provides an opportunity for students to learn about brainstorming and idea qualification, practice pitching ideas on a tight schedule and connect with distinguished alumni and community members in the business world.

The Business Idea Competition is supported by alumnus Chris Burch '76, chairman of J. Christopher Capital and co-founder of the Tory Burch women's fashion label. It is open to all Ithaca College students, and weekly coaching sessions are offered by School of Business faculty members and local entrepreneurs to help guide students as they crafted their ideas and pitches.
