Andrew Sowers Was Selected as an Inaugural Member of a Downtown Ithaca Business Incubator

2014 Oct 21

Andrew Sowers, a senior computer science major in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Ithaca College, was selected as an inaugural member of the downtown Ithaca business incubator for his software program Push Interactive.

Push Interactive utilizes Bluetooth beacons to bridge the gap between the digital and physical and connect businesses with their customers in order to increase sales and better the customer experience. It designs and builds custom, contextually aware applications allowing mobile phones to know exactly where they are and beam content relevant to its users' current location. These applications combined with beacons allow businesses to interact with their customers in a brand new way.

Sowers created Push Interactive with Stephen Briggs ’15, Calvin Chestnut ’14, and Austin Shoecraft ’14, and earned honorable mention in the Ithaca College Business Plan Competition in March 2014.

Recently, Push Interactive became an official member of Rev, a business incubator located in downtown Ithaca, N.Y. A collaboration between Ithaca College, Cornell University and Tompkins Cortland Community College, Rev offers entrepreneurs a place to grow their business, providing members with a physical workspace, mentoring from business experts, and many other resources essential to building a new business.

Rev's facilities have proven to be highly beneficial for Push Interactive.
