Ciara Lucas Named to List of '22 Under 22 Most Inspiring College Women'

2016 Sep 14

Ithaca College journalism major Ciara Lucas '16 has been recognized by Her Campus as one of its "22 Under 22 Most Inspiring College Women."

Lucas earned a spot on the list for her on-campus leadership and journalistic pursuits. During her time at Ithaca College, she has served as a student member of the Board of Trustees, been elected senior class president and worked as an NBC News reporter.

In an interview with Her Campus, Lucas attributed much of her success in journalism, such as covering the 2016 presidential election for NBC News, to her coursework in Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communications and her work for student media organizations like ICTV.

"I cannot imagine receiving the amount of experiences, both inside and outside of the classroom, if I weren't studying journalism at Ithaca College," Lucas told Her Campus. "At IC I'm not just studying journalism, I'm also practicing it, which makes me feel undoubtedly prepared for when I graduate and enter the industry."

Asked to give advice to other college students following their dreams, Lucas said to work hard and stay focused.

"Even if you end up failing, which of course is bound to happen at some point, know that you put your best effort forward and that there will be plenty of future successes if you put the work in," said Lucas.
