Daniel Tjie Presents Research at MathFest 2016

2016 Oct 5

Ithaca College student Daniel Tjie presented research at MathFest 2016.

MathFest, the annual national mathematics gathering of undergraduate and graduate students and professionals - was held at the Hyatt Regency at Columbus, Ohio from August 3 - 6, 2016.

Tjie, a senior mathematics and economics double major, gave a 15-minute presentation on the results of his research, “Explorations of Finger Games,” a topic in number theory. As part of the Humanities and Sciences Summer Scholars Program at Ithaca College, Tjie worked full-time on his research project from May – Aug. 2016 under the guidance of a faculty mentor, Professor John Rosenthal in the Department of Mathematics. The Summer Scholars Program provides undergraduate students in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Ithaca College with the opportunity to work and engage full-time during the summer on research, scholarly, or creative projects while being mentored by a Humanities and Sciences faculty member. It is supported in part by the Ithaca College Annual Fund and by the Emerson Foundation.
