Donette Ritchie Named Winner at 17th Annual James J. Whalen Symposium at Ithaca College

2014 May 14

Donette Ritchie, a senior Spanish major in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance at Ithaca College, was recently named a winner in the oral presentation category of the 17th annual James J. Whalen Academic Symposium. The annual symposium held at Ithaca College highlights original research and creative works done by Ithaca College students in collaboration with faculty sponsors.

Ritchie won for her "Improving Infant and Maternal Health in El Salvador: Think Locally, Act Globally" presentation.

The James J. Whalen Academic Symposium provides students with the opportunity to give oral and poster presentations on their senior and honors thesis projects and independent research, and to show their original creative work in the arts, including writing, music, theater and film.

Presentations are scored by a panel of judges on purpose/rationale, techniques and methods, conclusions, relevance, originality and visual appearance.
