Ithaca College Student Earns NWCA Scholar All-American Honor

Ithaca College student James Kaishian of Yorktown Heights, a Clinical Exercise Science major, earned Scholar All-American honor from the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

To qualify as a NWCA Scholar All-American, wrestlers must have at least a 3.2 GPA and either be a national qualifier with a winning record, a regional place-winner with a winning record, or have a season winning percentage of 67 percent or better.

Kaishian said that while it's been a challenge maintaining his grades, his sport has kept him motivated.

"I just thank god for the support of my classmates and teammates who help me whether it be studying or just reminding me that I'm pursuing my passion," said Kaishian. "I'm really just blessed to be in a situation were I can enjoy my classes and my sport simultaneously."
