Ithaca College Student Given Amazing Internship Opportunity

2015 Sep 28

Emma Behrens, a senior Integrated Marketing Communications major in the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, was given the opportunity to intern with Warner Bros. this summer as part of the Television Academy Foundation internship program.

The Television Academy Foundation internship program offers around 40 internships to college students nationwide each year in fields like entertainment, public relations, media research, and more. After being accepted into the highly selective program, students are placed into internships such as the Media Research and Insights internship Behrens was offered at Warner Bros.

Behrens says her responsibilities at the internship included researching for shows like Ellen and The Real using Nielsen ratings to help the show executives understand how the shows were doing. She was also able to participate in focus groups, which she says was one of her favorite parts of the internship.

Behrens credits her success at the internship to her time at ICLA, which helped her to better understand the entertainment industry. "I'm also super appreciative that I've had hands-on, skill-based classes such as media planning for IMC and 2 semesters in Research Methods for my sociology minor," says Behrens. "Having the opportunity to use knowledge in an applied context is something that helped me get a huge leg up when it came to understanding what was asked of me at my internship."
