Ithaca College Student Receives Great Internship Opportunity

Emily Barrett, a junior Mathematics major in the School of Humanities and Sciences, recently completed an internship with the Risk Adjustment Department at Excellus BlueCross BlueShield in Rochester, N.Y.

During the 10-week internship, Barrett worked primarily in data analysis, and was given educational projects that helped her learn more about risk adjustment.

"The most rewarding part of the internship was the feeling that the work I was doing was valued and important to the company. I was given projects that were meaningful and I was proud and excited to do the work," said Barrett. "The math skills I need for my courses transferred to the workplace and I was able to use those skills to solve problems that were very new to me."
