Ithaca College Student Trevor Thompson Earns NYSATA Scholarship

Ithaca College student Trevor Thompson of Lake Hopatcong, an athletic training major, is the recipient of the 2016 Paul DeMartinis Memorial Scholarship from the New York State Athletic Trainers' Association (NYSATA).

The requirements of the scholarship are primarily based on grades and clinical experience.

The scholarship is named after Paul DeMartinis, a long-time friend and colleague of NYSATA who lost his battle with cancer last September. This is the first time it has been awarded.

"I received a call from Jim Case, the NYSATA scholarship committee chairperson, and when he told me I was awarded not only a scholarship, but one in honor of a man who dedicated so much to helping athletic trainers it was a real honor," said Thompson.

Thompson said he is humbled to be the first recipient of the scholarship.
