Joelle Goldstein Named Empire 8 Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Joelle Goldstein was named Empire 8 Volleyball Rookie of the Week honors on Monday for the week ending on Sept. 21 2014. Goldstein, a freshman, is the first member of the Ithaca volleyball team to receive an Empire 8 weekly award so far in the 2014 season.

Goldstein helped lead Ithaca volleyball to three straight wins, marking an undefeated week for the Bombers. Ithaca began the week with a victory over Elmira in an exciting five-set match on Wednesday Sept. 16. On Saturday the Bombers gained two more wins against Hartwick and St. John Fisher, without dropping a set to either team. Ithaca improved its record to 10-3 overall.

Goldstein played in all eleven of the Bombers' sets. She recorded 30 kills on 73 attempts, giving her a hitting percentage of .315 for the week. Defensively for Ithaca, Goldstein tallied 10 digs and added two blocks.
