Kaitlyn DeHority Awarded Fred Kastenbaum PreHealth Award

Kaitlyn DeHority, a junior music with an outside field in chemisty major in the School of Muisc at Ithaca College, received the 2015 Fred Kastenbaum PreHealth Award.

The Ithaca College Premedical Advisory Committee grants the $500 award each academic year to assist students with preparation for the required standardized exams associated with admittance to graduate health programs.

Recipients must have a clear indication of career goals and a record of academic performance that is competitive for admission to the indicated graduate program.

Dehority decided that she wanted to pursue medicine as a career after attending the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Boston during high school. Since attending Ithaca College, she has gained more exposure to the medical field volunteering at hospitals and shadowing doctors. Upon graduating from Ithaca College, Dehority plans to go on to medical school.
