Kate Wareham Participates in Global Game Jam

2015 Feb 16

Kate Wareham, a Emerging Media major in the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, participated in the 2015 Global Game Jam, a 48-hour international video game creation event.

The event brings game developers together at hundreds of sites across the globe to create games during a 48-hour period. With a different theme each year, the event aims to use video games to give developers the opportunity to be creative, share experiences, and express themselves.

Hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Game Development Club at Ithaca College, fourteen developers worked together to create three games based on this year's theme "What do we do now?"

Wareham helped create the character art and animation for the game “Lucid” which entails a young hospital patient racing a dark shade of herself through a series of life-or-death puzzles, piecing together the events that led up to her hospitalization.

"This year there was an increase in the number of participants at the Ithaca College jam site, a trend that will hopefully continue into the future," said Nathan Prestopnik, assistant professor and advisor of the IC Game Developers Club. "Every team had fun, learned a lot and is excited for next year's jam."

LeapTrade -- a gaming website and news source for gamers -- sponsored the event.
