Matthew Dankanich Awarded for Contributions to Ithaca College Campus

2016 May 24

Matthew Dankanich has been honored with a Campus Life Award, recognizing his contributions to the Ithaca College community through participation and involvement in campus life.

A member of the Class of 2016, Dankanich received his award at a ceremony on May 21, the evening prior to Commencement. In his time at Ithaca College, worked extensively with the Center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Education, Outreach and Services and was an advocate for increased campus accessibility and awareness around accessibility issues.

"The theme of what I've tried to do at Ithaca College is make the invisible visible; to show the burdens of some stigmatized identities and how they are realized on a college campus," said Dankanich. "To be recognized for this means that to some extent, I have encouraged some visibility."

Campus Life Award winners are nominated by faculty, staff or students. Eligible students must have been extensively involved in a number of areas of campus life and demonstrated significant leadership abilities and accomplishments.
