Megan Kelleher Receives Grant from National Institute of Standards and Technology

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) awarded Megan Kelleher, a junior Physics major in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Ithaca College, a $9,400 grant to participate in the Boulder, Colo., Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program.

Kelleher will travel to Colorado to participate in the "Optical Atomic Clocks" program. She will aid in the development of next-generation optical atomic clocks and gain experience with laser systems including diode lasers, green and yellow light sources based on nonlinear conversion of infrared fiber lasers and red Ti:sapphire lasers.

The program runs from May 18 to July 31.
