Monica Lum Selected for Multicultural Advertising Internship Program

2014 Apr 4

Monica Lum, an integrated marketing communications major in the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, has been selected by the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A's) to participate in the Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP).

Lum will work as a project management intern at the internationally known Wieden + Kennedy (W+K), a full-service advertising agency best known for their work for Nike, Old Spice, ESPN and Coca-Cola.

"I remember really liking W+K at the American Advertising Federation Mosaic Career Fair," said Lum. "I’m sure it will be an amazing experience."

Lum is currently involved with Ithaca College’s Student Activities Board and Imprint Magazine. She is also a promotional specialist with TEAM Enterprises in Ithaca.

Since 1973, MAIP has helped jumpstart the careers of more than 2,500 African-American, Asian-American, Latino-American, Native America, multiracial and multiethnic aspiring advertising professionals. Each year, undergraduate and graduate students are selected for a 10-week paid summer internships participating 4A advertising agencies nationwide. Students gain practical work experience, establish key industry contact and become better prepared to land a full-time job in advertising upon graduation.

Founded in 1917, the 4A's is the national trade association representing the advertising agency business in the United States. 4A's is a management-oriented association that offers its members the broadest possible services, expertise and information regarding the advertising agency business.
