Ryan Pereira Earns Second Place in ENKOR Music Competition

2015 Jul 1

Ryan Pereira, a rising senior performance/music education major in the School of Music at Ithaca College, took second place in the ENKOR Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion Competition.

The global competition required Pereira to submit a solo performance of his repertoire of choice. Pereira submitted "II Concerto" by Spanish film composer Oscar Navarro performed with the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra.

ENKOR is the first ever international classical music competition entirely held on Internet. The competition strives to enable the young talents to compete on a truly global level regardless of place of residence or financial background.

Pereira previously won awards including: The 2010 National Young Artist Solo Clarinet Competition of the John Philip Sousa Foundation; the 2011 Friends of Music Outstanding Young Artist Competition in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; second place in the 2011 Allentown Symphony's Voorhees Concerto Competition; and second place in the 2014 National Society of Arts and Letters Collegiate Woodwind Competition in the New York Chapter. Most recently, Pereira was chosen as winner of the 2015 Ithaca College Concerto Competition.
