Stephen Meyerhofer Places 2nd in 2013 Solo and Small Ensemble Competition

Stephen Meyerhofer, a junior double major in music performance and computer science at Ithaca College, was awarded 2nd place in the 2013 Solo and Small Ensemble Competition sponsored by the 198th Army Band Reserve.

Competing in the best college/university soloist category, Meyerhofer was required to play three selections of contrasting styles and sight read three excerpts obtained one hour before the scheduled performance. The competition, judged by members of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Ithaca College Faculty, and senior members of U.S. Army Bands, was graded on the following categories: technique, musicality, tone/intonation, style, time/rhythm, and music preparation (sight reading).
