Willa Hahn To Compete in Miss New York State Scholarship Competition

2015 May 28

Willa Hahn, a sophomore integrated marketing communications major in the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College is set to compete in the 2015 Miss New York Scholarship Competition held June 4-6 in Staten Island, N.Y.

Hahn earned a spot in the Miss New York Scholarship Competition when she won the Miss Erie Canal crown in the Miss Syracuse 2015 Triple Crown Scholarship Competition. Hahn sings for her talent and her platform is “Youth Involvement in Politics.”

When describing why she chose to get involved with the Miss American Organization, Hahn said she wanted a reason to continue performing.

“It's also been a great way for me to get more involved in the community, and has provided me with a lot of opportunities for personal and professional development,” she said.

Hahn said studying integrated marking communications correlates heavily with pageantry.

“In order to succeed in the Miss America Organization, you have to know how to effectively market yourself and your personal brand, and my classes in the Park School have certainly taught me how to do that,” said Hahn. “I've gained skills here that I use every single day as a titleholder: social media branding and marketing, writing press releases, networking and interviewing.”

To participate in the Miss New York program, contestants must be a citizen of the United States; live, work or attend school full time in New York State; be at least 17 years-old but not older than 24 years-old by December 31, 2015; and have graduated from high school or successfully completed G.E.D. testing.
