Zane Coffey Makes Winning Pitch in Ithaca College Business Plan Competition

2015 May 20

Zane Coffey, a senior environmental sciences major in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Ithaca College, took first place and a $20,000 cash prize with team members Max Ocean '15 and Daniel Minogue '15 for their entrepreneurial company Subversive Malting & Brewing in the second annual Buisness Plan Competition.

A pre-prohibition style malt house and brewery located in the Hudson Valley, Subversive Malting & Brewing aims to forge local economy connections among brewers, beer-lovers and farmers.

"We had a broad mix of participants in a broad mix of businesses, which made it very interesting for the audience and judges," said Brad Treat, instructor in the School of Business and competition coordinator. "Every one of these companies is ready to launch. We look forward to following their future success."

The Business Plan Competition is supported by alumnus Chris Burch '76, chairman of J. Christopher Capital and co-founder of the Tory Burch women's fashion label. It is open to all Ithaca College students.
