Sushma Saha Shines in "Interstate" at the New York Musical Festival

Ithaca College musical theatre student Sushma Saha '20 has played plenty of lead roles, but none that spoke to their identity as much as Henry, the South Asian, transgender teen at the center of "Interstate," which had a run of six performances at during the 2018 New York Musical Festival. On the biggest stage of their career, Saha earned rave reviews from publications like the Village Voice.

"IC on Broadway: South Hill State of Mind"

Ithaca College alumni stars of the stage will join with some 50 current students from the Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance on Friday, November 11, for a historic performance in the appropriately named Broadway Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis in New York City's Time Square. Titled "IC on Broadway: South Hill State of Mind," the 8 p.m. show will feature vocalists, monologues, solo guitar and jazz band performances, as well as a music and dance composition collaboration. Tickets for "IC on Broadway: South Hill State of Mind," as well as other IC in the City events, can be purchased here.

Ithaca College Student's 'Ninja Warrior' Documentary Wins Festival Award

People across the country tune in to watch incredible athletes tackle challenging obstacle courses on the television show "American Ninja Warrior," but they usually aren't familiar with the training process required for the contestants to get to primetime. Ithaca College senior Amy Jacobson recently won Best Short Documentary at the Angeles Documentaries Film Festival for "Real Life Ninja," which follows one ninja warrior as he trains people to overcome obstacles.

Ithaca College Art Student Wins Award at Local Gallery

Marilyn Markech '18, an art major and 2017 summer scholar in the Ithaca College School of Humanities and Sciences, won second prize at the State of the Art Gallery's Juried Show for her painting, "The Splits," on Dec. 1. The painting uses the concept of splitting to raise awareness of borderline personality disorder.

Ithaca College Music Students Perform at Lincoln Center

In front of a large crowd in Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall on a Saturday night in New York City, Ithaca College music students performed a special concert on the same stage where such famed artists as Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman and Joshua Bell have played. Titled "The Exquisite Hour: MusIC of Love and Rapture," the April 29 performance featured the Ithaca College Choir, Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra.
