Students Inducted into Oracle Honor Society

Over 180 Ithaca College students have been inducted into the Oracle Honor Society. The Oracle Honor Society is a historic Ithaca College honor society that recognizes academic excellence. New students who achieve a GPA within the top 10 percent of students in their academic school after completing two full semesters at the college are invited to accept membership into the society.

Ahead of Kilimanjaro Climb, Timothy Conners Reaches New Heights With Inspirational Book

College student. Communications studies major. Motivational speaker. Now a first-time author. Soon-to-be summiteer of Kilimanjaro. The list of descriptors applicable to Timothy Conners is all the more impressive when two more are considered: blind cancer survivor. Earlier this month, Conners, now 22, released his debut book, titled "It's Impossible Until You Do It: Succeeding in the Face of Adversity."

IC Books Thru Bars collects books and sends them free-of-charge to prisoners upon request. Since its conception at Ithaca College in Dec. 2013, Books Thru Bars has distributed nearly 450 books to prisoners across the country.

Two Ithaca College Students Selected for Competitive Multicultural Advertising Program

Two integrated marketing communications majors have been selected to take part in the American Advertising Federation's Most Promising Multicultural Students Program. Seniors Niel Guaman and Irma Perez will attend a three-day event in New York City from Feb. 13-16, where they will attend professional workshops and meet with some of the premier advertising agencies, media companies and advertisers in the world.

Ithaca College Student Student 3D Prints Functional, Affordable Prosthetic

With a 3D printer and about $15, senior physics major Ryan Bouricius was able to create a functional prosthetic hand that can be used to grip, write and even catch a ball. With the assistance of a non-profit group, the hand will one day be matched to a person in need of such a prosthetic.

Ithaca College student entrepreneurs competed in the first annual Startup Idea Demo Day on Thursday, Nov. 17, to take home a combined $6,500 in prizes. The event, hosted by Rev: Ithaca Startup Works, gave students the opportunity to pitch business ideas to a panel of local entrepreneurial experts and network with business leaders.

It was an opportunity for the IYB cheerleaders to learn from strong female role models, and for the IC cheerleaders to pass on their skills and give back to the Ithaca community.
