Ithaca College Student Named Newman Civic Fellow

For her dedication to the Ithaca College community and commitment to advocacy work, Yetunde Smalls '21 has been named a 2020 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. Campus Compact is a national organization committed to advancing community service in higher education. Through the Newman Civic Fellowship, students are provided with training and resources to help them develop strategies for social change.

Maria Bushby Earns National Recognition for Helping Homeless

In recognition of her work addressing housing insecurity and homelessness, Ithaca College student Maria Bushy '20 has been named a 2019 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a national organization committed to advancing community service in higher education. The sociology major was one of 262 college students selected for a fellowship.

Ithaca College Students Recieve 'MLK Now' Award

Eleven Ithaca College students recieved the "MLK NOW" Award for their above-and-beyond service during the college's annual MLK Day of Service, which concluded a week of educational workshops and performances. The "MLK NOW" Award is given to one student from each volunteer group who demonstrates servant leadership and exceptional teamwork. The winners are voted on by the members of their group.

Ithaca College Cheerleaders Lend a Hand to Community Squad

This fall, the IC Cheer Club teamed up with the Ithaca Youth Bureau to mentor its cheerleading team of five to 12-year-olds. It was an opportunity for the IYB cheerleaders to learn from strong female role models, and for the IC cheerleaders to pass on their skills and give back to the Ithaca community.
